Chan Xin Wei was a student of Chung Cheng High School (Main) from 2008 to 2011.

Intellectual Independence and Passion for Learning
Xin Wei is effectively bilingual in both English and Chinese. Her proficiency in Chinese Language is evident from the A grade in the HSK State Commission of the Chinese Proficiency Test and the distinction that she scored in the 2010 GCE O-Level Chinese Examination. She also represented the school in the 2010 National Chinese Creative Writing Competition for secondary schools and achieved a gold award.

She was chosen by her teacher to take part in a Chongqing Exchange Programme in 2009 and Nanyang-Chung Cheng (Main) Collaboration at Fudan – a six-week immersion programme in 2010 where she had the opportunity to interact with the people of Chongqing and Shanghai in China to understand more about their culture and lifestyle. She demonstrated independence and enthusiasm throughout both overseas programmes and participated actively in all the activities.

In 2009, she represented the school in the Landscape Model Competition organised by Ngee Ann Polytechnic (School of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology) and achieved first prize. She was also selected for the Job Internship Programme to work with the Ministry of Education, National Education Branch, in 2010. She showed commitment and often went beyond the normal call of duty.

In addition, she has a positive attitude towards studies and is punctual in the submission of her assignments. She also takes pride in producing high quality work at all times.

Interpersonal Skills
As can be seen from her achievements in Co-Curricular Activities, Xin Wei is able to balance studies with her active involvement in Chinese Orchestra. In 2009 and 2011, she participated in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging and the Chinese Orchestra achieved the Gold (with Honors) Award for both years. She participated in the school’s Chinese Orchestra public concert, Virtuoso of Harmony, in 2010 and various festival performances in school. She also participated in the Music Talent Development Programme Chinese Orchestra 2009. Throughout, she demonstrated the ability to communicate well with her juniors and provided tutelage and assistance to them on many occasions. She was able to infuse in them a sense of energy and enthusiasm.

Being conscious of the need to contribute to the community and society, Xin Wei actively participates in the Community Involvement Programme (CIP). Her enthusiastic participation in CIP shows that she is someone who cares for the less fortunate and enjoys lending a helping hand to those who need it. These experiences also helped to develop her civic-consciousness and she proved that contributing substantially to the community can be genuinely rewarding. She also showed her contributions to her school through the sales of coupons for the school’s Bazaar by the Lake in 2008 and 2010.

Personal Attributes
Xin Wei is approachable and can be counted upon to lend a helping hand. With her cheerful disposition and optimism, she does not allow herself to be discouraged by setbacks. She strives to surmount difficulties and obstacles. Responsible, diligent and consistent, Xin Wei ensures that she does her best in all the tasks entrusted to her.

 

Charmaine Heng was a student of Chung Cheng High School (Main) from 2008 to 2011.

Charmaine is a high achiever who has the potential to excel in all that she undertakes. She is effectively bilingual in both English and Chinese. Her proficiency in the Chinese Language is evident from the distinction that she scored in the 2010 GCE O-level Chinese Examination. She was chosen by her Chinese teacher to take part in a Chongqing Exchange Programme where she had the opportunity to interact with the people of Chongqing, China, to understand more about their culture and lifestyle. She demonstrated independence and took the initiative to help the teachers when they were in need.

Charmaine has a positive attitude towards studies and has worked hard to do well in all her subjects. She participated actively in class and her contributions during class discussions were often insightful and perceptive.

Interpersonal Skills
Charmaine contributed actively to her ??? club as a member. She gets along well with her peers, and is able to spur the other members in her team to greater heights.

In addition, Charmaine actively participated in the school’s Community Involvement Programme (CIP), taking part in the Society For the Physically Disabled Flag Day in 2009 and the Flag Day for Thong Chai Medical Association in 2010. During her free time, she volunteers her services at various societies. She is a Youth Volunteer at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. She also helped out at the Singapore Cancer Society on several occasions, assisting them at their various forums.

Personal Activities
A friendly and sociable person, Charmaine values team work, and encourages cooperation and collaboration. With her cheerful disposition and optimism, she does not allow herself to be discouraged by setbacks. She is approachable and can always be counted upon to lend a helping hand to her friends who face difficulties.

 

Cherilyn Lee Ping was a student of Chung Cheng High School (Main) from 2008 to 2011.

Cherilyn is highly ambitious in achieving the goals she set. She has the potential to excel in all the tasks that she undertakes. She is effectively bilingual in English and Chinese. Her proficiency in Chinese Language is evident from the A1 that she scored in the 2010 GCE O-level Chinese Examination. Having a positive attitude towards studies, Cherilyn worked hard to do consistently well in most of the subjects. She also participated actively in class and her contributions in class discussion were often well received.  A disciplined and motivated student, Cherilyn ensured that her work was of high quality.

Interpersonal Skills

Cherilyn was able to balance studies with her passion in Co-Curricular Activities (CCA). She represented Chung Cheng High School (Main) in Track And Field from 2008 to 2011 and achieved much during this period. She participated in both the 4 Schools Combined Sport Meet and National Inter-school Track and Field Championship. Besides Track And Field, Cherilyn also represented the school in netball. In all the sport events that she participated, Cherilyn was able to relate well with her juniors and peers. She helped to coach and counsel her juniors to better prepare them for the competition. 

Besides her CCA, Cherilyn also participated actively in Community Involvement Project (CIP) like visiting the Home for the Aged, where she provided joy and comfort to the elderly by engaging them in simple conversation.

Personal Attributes

Cherilyn is helpful, friendly and respectful to her teachers and peers. She is highly responsible and can be relied upon to complete any task entrusted to her. An approachable person, Cherilyn never fails to help her peers when called upon. She also projects self-confidence, determination and has a go-getter attitude that has enabled her to achieve many goals in her four years at school. She also has a strong desire to succeed and seldom loses sight of her goals. Being determined to perform well, Cherilyn readily accepts feedback and strives to improve on her weaknesses.

Fiona Liew Ya Qing was a student of Chung Cheng High School (Main) from 2008 to 2011.

Fiona is effectively bilingual in English and Chinese, and has the potential to excel in all that she undertakes. As a participant of the 2010 Anglican – Chung Cheng Debate Festival, Fiona put her proficiency in the English language to good use and was able to present her views in a lucid and cogent manner. Fiona values hard work, cooperation and collaboration. She displays a passion for learning and an enquiring mind. She often approaches her teachers to clarify her doubts. Determined to perform better, Fiona readily accepts feedback on her weaknesses and strives for improvement. Fiona also participates actively during class discussions.

Interpersonal Skills
Fiona was a member of Ten-Pin Bowling from 2008 to 2011. She was able to relate well with her juniors and peers. Her communication skills enabled her to develop a good relationship with her friends. She was the Class Chairperson in 2011, and was methodical and considerate of others at all times.
In addition, being conscious of the need to contribute to the community and society, Fiona volunteered for Community Involvement Projects like fund-raising for the Deaf Association of Singapore through flag day in 2011, visits to the old folks’ home in year 2010 and sales of coupons for the school’s bazaar by the lake in 2008 and 2010. She also helped in the collection of old clothes and newspapers to raise money for the physically disabled in 2010. Through such experiences, she was able to develop her civic consciousness. She also proved that contributing to the community can be genuinely rewarding. Her participation in these Community Involvement Projects shows that she is someone who cares for the less fortunate and enjoys lending a helping hand to those who need it.

Fiona is respectful and friendly towards her teachers and peers. She has the ability to remain in control during times of crisis. She projects self-confidence, authority and enthusiasm, thus also influences others with a sense of energy. With her cheerful disposition and optimism, she does not allow herself to be discouraged by setbacks. Instead, she does her best to surmount the difficulties she is facing. A friendly and socialble person, Fiona promotes harmony among peers and gives due recognition to them as well. She is approachable, and always does her best to help those facing difficulties. Responsible, Fiona ensures that she does her best in all the tasks entrusted to her and is always grateful to those who believe in her.

Hu Xiaoqi was a student of Chung Cheng High School (Main) from 2008 to 2011.

Intellectual Independence and Passion for Learning
Xiaoqi is intelligent, cooperative and creative. She is determined to perform well and consistently demonstrated a strong dedication to achieve her scholastic goals. Her thirst for knowledge is driven by her personal motto of “Knowledge is Power”. She is especially keen in the Mathematics and Sciences. Combined with her knowledge in other fields of study, she is able to effectively comprehend complex issues and displays a depth of understanding of the workings of our society.
Xiaoqi is gifted in languages. She constantly excels in both English and Mother Tongue (Chinese) and possesses a flair for writing in the languages. Effectively bilingual, her language proficiency is demonstrated in her ability to articulate clearly and speak fluently in class. She actively engages in class discussions, confidently sharing her viewpoints on various issues. She is able to put forth her points in a lucid and cogent manner. 

Interpersonal Skills
Xiaoqi’s Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), English Drama Society (EDS), isfitting for her. In 2011, she participated in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging and the Society achieved the Gold Award. Her participation is evidence of her dedication to her duties. In addition, she also competed in various other drama competitions, such as Story Challenge Competition.
Apart from her CCA, Xiaoqi was an active participant in the school’s Community Involvement (CIP), such as taking part in beach cleaning activities in 2008, running for Race Against Cancer 2009, fund-raising through Flag Day for Thong Chai Medical Association in 2010 and Flag Day for Make A Wish Foundation in 2011. Outside of school, she travelled the extra mile and volunteered for Let’s Build a Children Art Gallery: Painting sessions at Millenia Walk, organized by Social Creatives. She was also involved in another project by the same organization — to paint colourful murals on the walls of heartland kindergartens and brighten up children’s school life. Her compassionate nature leads her to give back to the society and developed in her a genuine helpful attitude.

Personal Attributes
A figure of energy, Xiaoqi is highly motivated and enthusiastic in what she does and this enthusiasm is contagious. Her courage and pioneering instincts led her to take new roads rather than the conventional ones. She is open to opportunities and is curious and inquisitive. Xiaoqi is assertive, frank and outspoken, making her the ideal catalyst for productive teamwork.
